Bristol City 1-0 Watford LIVE: Reaction as Ballard header sees Reds enter break on winning note

Hello and welcome to evening's live blog, where we will bring you updates from Ashton Gate as Bristol City and Michael Skubala take on Watford in their final game before the international break.

It has been just a few days since the Robins were last in action, with Tuesday night's visit of Lincoln City one to forget for the City faithful. Skubala's side suffered their second straight defeat, as their manager's former club ran out 1-0 winners at Ashton Gate.

For this evening's opponents, however, midweek football wasn't on the agenda this time around. Watford have been afforded what has proven to be a rare week off, but it is likely to have been frustrating given the Hornets were beaten 2-1 by Stoke City at Vicarage Road last weekend.

A win over Alessio Dionisi's side this evening could see City spend the next three weeks in the play-off places. Lose, and Skubala's squad will have to wait until they visit Charlton Athletic on October 10 to curtail a three-match losing run.

When these two sides met at Ashton Gate last season, Watford secured what remains their most recent win away from Vicarage Road thanks to goals from Luca Kjerrumgaard and Jeremy Ngakia. In the reverse fixture, a Scott Twine free-kick secured a 1-1 draw for the injury-hit Robins.

Skubala and his players will, no doubt, be keen to enter the break on a high in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
