Pitch Report

Game 2 this season at Dharamsala. The last one was a day game and despite the first over swinging all over the place and being 2/1 after 5 balls, Punjab racked up 236/5 with the ball flying to all parts in the thin Himalayan air. LSG were 73/5 with no batting to come in the reply and still managed 199- sixes just looked so easy to hit. However- we aren’t basing our bets on a sample size of one. That match was a night game and this one is a day game- they are two very different things at this ground historically- the swing tends to stick around for longer and we’re expecting far more bowler-friendly conditions this time around.

Batting Stats T20

Random Market, Not so Random Results

Dismissal methods are something where stats can help us an awful lot. The 4 likely openers here are du Plessis, Porel, Arya and Prabhsimran. You can back “Caught Other” (as in anyone who isn’t the ‘keeper) at 1.91 with Skybet. Let’s look at the players then. Prabhsimran has been caught by a fielder in 10 of his 11 innings, Arya in 9 of his 11. For DC, it’s 5 out of 6 for Faf and 8 out of 11 for Porel. So between all of them, they’ve been dismissed by fielders 32 times out of 39, or 82%. If you’d have backed 1.33 caught other for the first dismissal for these guys all season, you’d be in front. 1.91 looks a fantastic bet, then.

Iyer we go Again

Shreyas Iyer was looking good again in the last game before throwing his wicket away against Divesh Rathi for 45 (25). He’s still in good form though and still hitting plenty of sixes. He knows the Delhi spinners extremely well, having played an awful lot of cricket with Axar and Kuldeep down the years. Iyer’s hit 27 sixes so far this IPL- more than any other Punjab player- so we have to back Bet365’s 6.5 most Punjab Sixes in this game. They’ve got Maxwell at 6.0 and he left the IPL 4 games ago, so we’re confident enough they don’t give too much thought to these prices.

Wicket Takers T20

Arshdeep Can’t be 20s.

It used to be really hard for an out-and-out bowler to win the Man of the Match Award in the IPL- not so these days. Here’s some of the bowling winners this season- Noor, Thakur, Starc (twice), Prasidh Krishna (twice), Ashwani Kumar, Siraj (twice), Arora, Digvesh, Archer, Narine (twice), Karn Sharma, Chahal, Avesh Khan, Hazlewood, Boult, Mukesh, Harshal, Hazelwood. Krunal’s won it twice, too, but one of those was for his batting. Arshdeep bowled beautifully at this ground amongst the carnage last time and picked up 3/16 from his 4 overs- he got loads of early swing and, as it’s a day game, we’re expecting even more this time. The spinners all got carted so he’s the most likely bowler for PBKS to have a big impact. 21.00 Player of the Match (Skybet) looks an excellent bet.

Early Pole Please

We don’t think Nair will open again for Delhi, he nicked off to Cummins off the game’s first ball the other day. Given how much it swung at Dharamsala last time and how good Arshdeep was in particular, First Ball- Wicket is worth a look again. We can get 26.00 (Boylesports, Skybet) and it’s definitely worth a wager. Mitchell Starc will open for Delhi and that’s two properly dangerous bowlers running for us. Arya has already gone first ball once this season and it has to be more than 4% that lightning strikes twice.
