Leicester City Relegated to League One Ten Years After Premier League Triumph

Leicester City have completed one of the most dramatic falls in English football history. Just ten years after their unbelievable Premier League triumph, the ‘Foxes’ have been relegated to League One, following a draw against Hull City.

The result left them with no mathematical chance of survival. Sitting seven points away from safety with only two matches remaining, Leicester’s relegation had been looming—and is now officially confirmed.

The clash against Hull was effectively a final. Only a win would have kept Gary Rowett’s side alive, but they failed to deliver when it mattered most.

It was a tightly contested game filled with tension. Hull struck first, Leicester responded and briefly turned the game around… but a late equalizer in the second half ultimately sealed their fate.

This relegation is not an isolated event, but the culmination of a steady decline. A points deduction for breaching financial rules proved decisive in the fight for survival.

It also marks a second consecutive relegation for the club. After dropping from the Premier League to the Championship last season, Leicester now fall even further, completing a collapse few could have imagined.

Little remains of the legendary side that, under Claudio Ranieri, stunned the world by winning the Premier League in 2015/16. With stars like Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez, and N’Golo Kanté, Leicester produced one of the greatest underdog stories in sports history.

That title, along with their later FA Cup triumph, made them a global symbol of belief. Today, however, reality looks very different—the club that once inspired millions must now rebuild from the third tier.
