Australian WTA player responds when asked if Amanda Anisimova can win the US Open this year

Amanda Anisimova looks to be suffering no hangover from her turbulent Wimbledon final.

Reaching a maiden Grand Slam final should be a joyous occasion, but the tears that slid down her face after a 6-0, 6-0 drubbing to Iga Swiatek made for heartbreaking scenes.

Anisimova got revenge on Swiatek last night by knocking her out of the US Open and setting up a semifinal date with Naomi Osaka.

Anisimova was delighted to kill any lingering scars over Swiatek, and this will go a long way towards helping her forget about that fateful day on Centre Court.

Now, she can look forward to playing another slam semifinal and Anisimova has already had some praise for Osaka ahead of the match.

Anisimova has been discussing how she recovered from Wimbledon, and now, the talk among the pundits has centred around whether or not she can go all the way and win the title.

Jaimee Fourlis predicts whether Amanda Anisimova can win the US Open

The Australian WTA player has been discussing the fortunes of Anisimova on the Australian Open TV’s podcast, simply called The Tennis.

Fourlis, 25, is currently striving to make her way as a professional and is ranked at number 331 in the world right now.

She does believe that Anisimova has what it takes to be a US Open champion and believes she can go all the way at this year’s event.

She said: “I think she can. I honestly think she can. Watching her on court, she is so locked in. I have never seen her this locked in. It is incredible, and I think she has a really good team behind her. She is just backing herself, and when she swings and hits (it’s impressive).”

Anisimova can win the US Open on current form

It’s been a positive few months for Anisimova, and after reaching her first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon, she could now do the same at Flushing Meadows.

Anisimova is a likeable player on the circuit, and as Fourlis explains, she appears to be hitting the ball so cleanly right now.

The USA star would dearly love to get her hands on a first major title in her own backyard, and winning the US Open is the pinnacle for any American female.

With Osaka to play next and either Aryna Sabalenka or Jessica Pegula awaiting in the final, it won’t be easy for Anisimova but with how she’s playing right now, it’s hard to be against her being successful at this tournament.
