Wow.The Cats lead by 10 points in the west after one quarter. The talk before the game was all about who won the clearances would be vital - but it's not the clearances that are telling, it's the turnovers.Between those turnovers and the poor goalkicking, the Dockers are their own worst enemies right now. Can they fight back? We'll find out.Now it's Geelong's turn to missABy Andrew McGarryWell it's not just Fremantle.Geelong have had their chance there, and Ollie Henry took a mark in the left forward pocket. He ran round and snapped it, but it started right and didn't come back enough. Now Treacy misses for FremantleABy Andrew McGarryThis would be concerning for Freo coach Justin Longmuir. The ball went to Josh Treacy inside 50. It was a gettable kick, but he couldn't get it. That's four misses in a row for the home side.Dockers miss another chance through AmissABy Andrew McGarryThe Dockers are creating plenty of chances here - taking them is the problem.A kick to the wing was intercepted by Patrick Voss, who kicked it long to a contest, and the Cats were pinged for holding the jumper.Jye Amiss had the kick, but he sprayed it nearly out on the full. It just went through for a point. Cats by nine in time on.Jack Martin has three! Cats extend their leadABy Andrew McGarryThe turnovers are killing the Dockers.A poor kick down the wing was chopped off, and sent back by the Cats. The ball was funnelled through hands and then kicked long to a contest, for Jack Martin to take a contested grab inside 50.Martin's kicking boots are on (this one wasn't too hard) and he now has three goals in the first quarter and Geelong leads by 10.Cats hit back with two in a minute to Ollie WiltshireABy Andrew McGarryGeelong have hit straight back! Two goals in a minute from Ollie Wiltshire. The Cats are forcing turnovers, the first one came from Ollie Dempsey who then found Wiltshire for a set shot. The second came from Patrick Dangerfield smothering a tap/clearance from Luke Jackson. The ball went to a contest, it spilled and Wiltshire somehow soccered it through without it being touched. The Cats lead again! The ARC turns one over - and Patrick Voss takes advantageABy Andrew McGarryThat was interesting. The Cats thought they had a kick out of defensive 50, but the ARC chimed in and turned it into a free for Freo. The ball was with Patrick Voss, and he ran around and thumped it from 50m. Never looked like missing! Great goal.Dockers can't take advantage of Reid brillianceABy Andrew McGarryThat should have been another one for Freo! They won the ball out of a stoppage, the handball found Reid again, and he spotted up Jye Amiss inside 50.The goals was there for the taking, but his set shot slid to the right. We're not halfway through the first term yet, and the Dockers lead 2.2 to 2.0.Fremantle answers through Murphy ReidABy Andrew McGarryThere is no shortage of action here early doors! The Dockers were on the right end of it this time, with the ball finding Murphy Reid, who nailed his kick for the Dockers' second.Jack Martin has two for GeelongABy Andrew McGarryThe pressure is on in Perth, and the errors are coming!A kick to the middle was turned over and Geelong took their chance. They went long to the left side of 50 to Jack Martin. He took the grab and took two steps and drilled the kick.He has two, the Cats lead again!Huge Cats error leads to a Jackson goal for FremantleABy Andrew McGarryOh dear! That was unexpected. The Dockers went forward, the ball went long to the square.Jake Kolodjashnij was on the goal line and he tapped it down, thinking it would be a point - but it bounced and held inside the field of play, and Luke Jackson pounced to tap it over the line for a goal. That's a terrible error. The Cats get the opening goalABy Andrew McGarryFremantle are made to pay for their early miss! The Cats get the ball and they manage a series of marks, the last of which is Jack Martin grabbing deep inside forward 50.The former Suns snaps the goal, and Geelong hits the front.Treacy misses early for FreoABy Andrew McGarryIt's been a funny first couple of minutes in Perth. The Dockers won the opening clearance and went into attack but it didn't work. The pressure grew however, and a long kick into forward 50 was marked by Josh Treacy.Treacy's kick skewed left from close range, however. That's a poor miss early. Freo by a point. We are underway at Perth StadiumABy Andrew McGarryHere we go in Perth! Can Geelong pull off a big win in the west? Or will Fremantle make it 13 straight? Can anyone stop Luke Jackson? These questions and more are about to be answered.Recent results between Fremantle and GeelongABy Andrew McGarryR2, 2026: Geelong by 10 (Kardinia Park)R2, 2025: Geelong by 78 (Kardinia Park)R23, 2024: Geelong by 11 (Perth Stadium)R20, 2023: Fremantle by 7 (Kardinia Park)R10, 2023: Fremantle by 29 (Perth Stadium)R7, 2022: Fremantle by 3 (Kardinia Park)This matchup has been an interesting one of late, with Geelong winning the last three encounters including a 78-point thumping but Fremantle taking the three previous ones including two wins away from home. All up, the Dockers have won just four of the last 13 games between the two sides. There have been five games at today's venue, Perth Stadium — Geelong have won three, and Fremantle two.'We'll give him as much time as he needs': GWS coach Adam Kingsley on Toby Greene's futureABy Andrew McGarrySpeculation may be growing about Toby Greene's future at GWS beyond this season, but Giants coach Adam Kingsley is in no rush to force a decision from the team's skipper.Giants captain Greene is off-contract at the end of the season and eligible for unrestricted free agency.Geelong has emerged as a possible suitor for the 32-year-old Victorian, who has played all 274 matches in his career at GWS, making him the all-time games record holder for the Giants."I'd prefer him to sign today, but the reality is that's not going to happen," Kingsley said."He needs time to discuss and think, so we'll give him as much time as he needs."You can check out more on this story here:Can the Cats make it a double over Freo in 2026?ABy Andrew McGarryFremantle has won a club-record 12 games in a row, and they are going for 13 tonight. The Dockers have only lost to one side this season. The team? Of course it's Chris Scott's Geelong side, who won in round one.Can they do it again, this time in the west? You certainly wouldn't write them off, and this game is a challenging way for Freo to come back from the bye.If the Cats can do it, then that will be both a boost to them and a blow to the Dockers' confidence. If they can't, then that will add to the sense that 2026 might well be Fremantle's year.
