Last Updated:April 04, 2026, 09:23 ISTHardik Pandya is expected to play a key role for India and for that, they want him to be ready to deliver 10 overs if needed. With an eye on the 2027 ODI World Cup, India allrounder Hardik Pandya has reportedly intensified his workload as he prepares for a bigger role with the ball in the one-day setup. Given his history of injuries, Pandya has been careful not to push his body beyond its limits, avoiding the kind of fitness issues that have previously cut short his participation in major international tournaments. However, according to a report in The Times of India, the Indian team management expects Pandya to bowl his full quota of 10 overs at the ODI World Cup next year, which will be played on the fast, bouncy pitches of South Africa. While Pandya may not be required to bowl his full quota in every match, he is expected to be available to do so if the captain needs him.“Hardik is expected to play a big role in the ODI setup since the World Cup will be played on fast and bouncy pitches in South Africa," the publication quoted a BCCI source as saying. “He can lend the perfect balance. But he has to convince the selectors and the team management that he will be available to bowl 10 overs. He may not be required to do so in every match. The captain may end up bowling him for 6-7 overs in most matches. But he should be available if the captain needs more from him."According to the report, the 32-year-old is confident his body can handle the demands of bowling 10 overs in an ODI.“Hardik has been increasing his workload. He has worked on his action to bowl in-swingers as well without compromising on pace. He feels his body is ready to cope with the rigours of bowling 10 overs in ODIs, " the source was quoted as saying. In his ODI career so far, Pandya has bowled his full quota of 10 overs on 18 occasions, with the most recent instance coming during the 2019 ODI World Cup in England. However, Pandya is not the only seam-bowling allrounder in the selectors’ plans. Nitish Reddy, who has made an impressive start to IPL 2026 with Sunrisers Hyderabad, has also increased his bowling workload in domestic cricket.News cricket Hardik Pandya Increases Workload After Being Told He'll Have To Bowl Full Quota At 2027 World Cup
