Deadline Day is in full swing as Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool all push to get late signings completed. Arsenal are said to have held shock talks over Newcastle star Sandro Tonali following Mikel Merino’s injury and also seen a bid rejected for striker Igor Tyjon, while they have also now opened discussions over James Wilson at Hearts.

Chelsea are poised to recall Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg to bolster their defensive ranks, with both Aaron Anselmino and David Datro Fofana heading in the opposite direction, and Axel Disasi off to West Ham. The Blues are also rumoured to have failed with a shock late offer for Tylel Tati, having lost out to Liverpool in the race for the £60million summer signing of Jeremy Jacquet - who is due to arrive on Merseyside for a medical - and agreed to let Tyrique George join Everton. Lutsharel Geertruida will not be heading to Anfield though after talks were ended.

Tottenham miss out on Robertson signing as Deadline Day decision made

Tottenham are not expected to complete a Deadline Day deal for Andy Robertson., writes Sam Tabuteau.

Standard Sport understands that, with Kostas Tsimikas expected to stay at Roma, Robertson will not leave Liverpool before tonight's 7pm deadline.

Spurs launched surprise talks over signing Robertson late in January, with both the player and Liverpool open to a deal.

However, any potential deal hinged on Liverpool being able to recall Greek left-back Tsimikas or sign a replacement.

With Tsimikas set to stay at Roma until the end of the season, Spurs' pursuit of Robertson has come to an end.

Robertson had been keen to play more minutes ahead of this summer's World Cup, but is now set to stay on Merseyside.

ICYMI: Arsenal confirm defender sale

In case you missed it...

Oleksandr Zinchenko has completed his transfer from Arsenal to Ajax.

The Ukrainian left-back had been in talks with the Dutch giants for some time and flew to Amsterdam over the weekend in order to sign a contract and undergo a medical.

The deal has now been made official, with Zinchenko ending a difficult season-long loan spell at Nottingham Forest early in order to head to Ajax on a permanent deal reportedly worth just €1.5million (£1.2m) for Arsenal, plus Champions League-related bonuses.

The 29-year-old has signed a short-term contract at the Johan Cruyff Arena until the end of the season and could make his debut next weekend when fourth-place Ajax - who drew 2-2 with Excelsior on Sunday to leave them 18 points behind runaway leaders PSV Eindhoven - travel to face AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie.

Tottenham enter race for Arsenal target Wilson

Tottenham are said to be considering hijacking Arsenal’s approach for Hearts striker James Wilson.

Sky Sports reported moments ago that the Lilywhites, who we expect to be gearing up for some Deadline Day arrivals, are also keen on signing the 18-year-old Scotland international on loan with an option to buy.

Spurs would take a similar stance when it comes to Wilson’s role, involving him in the U21 set-up rather than inserting him directly into Thomas Frank’s top squad, it is understood.

Chelsea agree second Deadline Day deal as double arrival secured

Ato Ampah has agreed to join Stoke City from Chelsea on a permanent transfer, writes Dom Smith.

Standard Sport understands that Stoke will pay a fee of around £3million including add-ons, and the Blues have included a sell-on clause in the contact.

Ampah will now travel for a Deadline Day medical at Stoke to finalise a permanent exit from Chelsea.

The Ghana-born England Under-21 international has been attracting plenty of interest, including from clubs in the Championship, after Chelsea decided last month to explore a sale.

Ampah joined Chelsea at the age of 11 and signed his first professional contract with the club in April 2023.

The winger’s arrival will not be the only new face at Stoke on Deadline Day, with the Potters also winning the race to sign Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.

Adingra to join Monaco on loan from Sunderland

Sunderland winger Simon Adingra is set to join AS Monaco on loan, reports Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer guru reports that an agreement is in place for a €1m loan fee for the rest of the current campaign, with a €17m buy option clause. The Ivory Coast international’s visa and medical arrangements are now being sorted.

Adingra joined the newly-promoted Black Cats from Brighton just last summer but has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot under Regis Le Bris.

Man City's forgotten man nearing Blades loan

Kalvin Phillips is said to be nearing a loan move to Sheffield United for the rest of the season.

Reports from sources including Sky Sports suggest Manchester City’s forgotten man has received interest from other clubs but is keen on a return to Yorkshire to try to resurrect his career.

It hasn’t gone to plan for the 30-year-old since his 2022 move from boyhood club Leeds to the Etihad.

Phillips has been loaned out to West Ham and Ipswich in the last two campaigns and this season, he has played just seven minutes of football for Man City, in the Carabao Cup.

City are expected to pay the bulk of the England midfielder’s salary during his latest loan, it is reported.

The Blades sit 17th in the Championship following a 1-1 draw at fifth-placed Millwall on Saturday.

Villa's Jimoh-Aloba joins West Brom on loan

Aston Villa youngster Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba has joined West Brom on loan for the rest of the season.

The 19-year-old joined Villa’s academy from the Baggies in 2023 and netted his first professional goal in last Thursday’s Europa League win over RB Salzburg, after making his Premier League debut in December.

“This was the number one place I wanted to come because of the emotions and feelings I have towards the club,” Jimoh-Aloba said.

“Those emotions are still in me deeply.

“This is a massive club that should be in a much better place and I want to come here and help and do the best I can. I’m determined to help lift the team.

“I was here as a kid from the age of six, so it’s a place I’m comfortable at. It’s a positive for me to come back and I can’t wait to get going.”

West Brom are currently 21st in the Championship.

Deadline Day full of Old Trafford exits

There remains other business to be completed by United before Monday’s 7pm deadline, meanwhile.

Young wingerJames Scanlon is set to join Swindon Town on loan, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Swindon are looking for reinforcements to bolster their promotion push into League One, and United reported approved the exit on Deadline Day morning.

BBC Sport report that United's Under-21s captain Jacob Devaney is of interest to Scottish side St Mirren. Any deal would be a loan.

Bradford City are are expected to announce the loan signing of young striker Ethan Wheatley, who was recalled from a similiar deal with Northampton last month.

There could still be time for Gabriele Biancheri to leave, with Football League World reporting Rotherham’s interest in the young striker.

Biancheri has scored five goals and produced three assists in 10 Premier League 2 games this season.

Manchester United cancel Deadline Day deal - reports

Manchester United are having a busy Deadline Day as the January transfer window reaches a frantic conclusion.

After a hefty summer spend, in which well over £200million was spent on Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo, United have had a quieter winter.

The most significant movements saw head coach Ruben Amorim sacked and replaced by former midfielder Michael Carrick on a deal until the end of the season.

Carrick has spoken of his interest in exploring the transfer market but, after three wins from his first three games, talk of possible new recruits has quietened.

Outgoings have been on the agenda for techinical director Jason Wilcox, and there is still plenty going on behind the scenes.

One player who was expected to depart the club is Tyrell Malacia, who has no future at Old Trafford after being made part of the ‘bomb squad’ last summer.

According to reports in the Netherlands, the Dutch defender was set to join an unnamed Turkish side on Deadline Day only for the move to be cancelled by United.
