Arne Slot loudly BOOED by Liverpool fans after bringing on Alexander Isak in controversial substitution vs Chelsea

LIVERPOOL boss Arne Slot was booed by his own fans after bringing off Rio Ngumoha for Alexander Isak.

The teenage prodigy started Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Anfield and impressed on the left wing as he assisted Ryan Gravenberch‘s opener.

But he was hauled off by Slot in the 67th minute as he brought £130million singing Isak.

And the substitution didn’t go down well with the Reds faithful after the Dutchman took off the team’s main bright spark.

Supporters looked furious as Ngumoha trudged off the pitch amid increasing pressure on Slot’s position.

There were loud whistles from the crowd and some took to social media to vent their frustration too.

One wrote on X: “The Anfield crowd booed Arne Slot for taking off Rio Ngumoha and honestly, they had every right to.

Another said: “You desperately need a goal and the solution is removing your best player? Genuinely absurd.”

A third added: “Anfield booing Ngumoha coming off and rightly so. I genuinely cannot believe it.”

And one commented: “Isak wasn’t the problem, Slot took off our positive attacking spark that could’ve played balls into Isak, weird sub…”

The sub certainly seemed strange given that Ngumoha won more duels (6), made more ball recoveries (5) and completed more take-ons (4) than any other Liverpool player.

Liverpool look set to finish in the top five and secure Champions League football, but Slot is still under fire after a disappointing campaign.

Slot was the name on everyone’s lips a year ago after winning the Premier League title.

But the team have given a poor title defence despite spending almost £450million in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool have failed to win their last two games after drawing to Chelsea, which ended the Blues’ dismal winless run of five games.

Enzo Fernandez struck late to secure a point for Calum McFarlane’s men in the first half.

Chelsea thought they had won it before Cole Palmer’s strike was ruled out by VAR, while Liverpool also had a goal from Curtis Jones disalllowed.
