It was arguably the best match of the tournament so far, and tennis fans worldwide were locked in. This even included Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Following the clash, Tendulkar shared his views, sympathising with Alcaraz's situation.

Sachin Tendulkar says Carlos Alcaraz's situation was tougher as he is returning from injury

Alcaraz was visibly knackered as the match went into its final hour. Considering that he missed five months with a wrist injury before this tournament, it only makes sense.

While giving his verdict on the tournament, Tendulkar highlighted that factor while still giving both players their flowers.

"That was some tennis!" Tendulkar wrote on X. "Every time it looked like one of them had the match, the other fought his way back. And then it came down to the final few points.

"Well played, Ben Shelton! Tough luck, Carlos. Coming back after an injury makes this one even tougher."

For Shelton, this marks possibly the most impressive moment in his career yet. For Alcaraz, it was a good return to the court after time away and something to use for motivation going into next year.
