Jersey Bulls Women knocked out of FA Cup

Jersey Bulls Women suffered the first defeat in their history as they lost 3-1 at Bognor Regis Town in the FA Cup first qualifying round.

The island side won every game they played on the way to claiming the league title in their inaugural English football campaign last season.

But the seventh-tier Bulls could not get past sixth-tier Bognor Regis on their FA Cup debut.

That was despite Sam Silva-Pinto giving them the best possible start as she fired in a superb strike from the edge of the box into the top corner after four minutes.

But the hosts drew level two minutes later thanks to Sophie Humphrey's close-range strike.

Ten minutes later Bognor were in front as Humphrey again pounced.

Bognor Regis continued to pressurise the islanders and were eventually rewarded when Lou Lou Robson made it 3-1 from a corner with 10 minutes to go.

Bulls will begin their league campaign next week when they travel to face Sutton United U23's in the South East Counties Women's Football League Surrey Premier Division.
