Liverpool transfer news LIVE: Bradley Barcola agreement, Ismaila Sarr bid, £90m price tag set

One of Liverpool's winger targets, Ismaila Sarr, is set to miss Crystal Palace's upcoming clash with Manchester City.

Palace boss Pierre Sage confirmed that the Senegalese forward, who has reportedly been the subject of a £50m Reds bid, is suffering from a groin issue.

"Ismaila Sarr is in individual sessions," Sage confirmed. "He is in pain with his groin – that's why you didn't see him [train] with us today.

"But we'll prepare him – he needs time. I thought it would be quicker but I am not medical [staff] – that's why I wait for him, and we'll prepare him to come back with us."

It seems all you have to do to get Liverpool to bid for you is pick up an injury!

Whilst Liverpool pulling off the signing of Barcola, when it goes through, is a major statement, club legend Jamie Carragher thinks they HAVE to bolster another position too.

He told Sky Sports: "It looks as though Liverpool have one target at the moment and it's the one everyone's talking about. He's a left-winger for me and for me the big thing that stands out like a sore thumb right now is that we need to replace Mo Salah, a right-winger.

"I don't think Liverpool have got anybody in the squad who looks fully comfortable playing right-wing."

Harvey Elliott has become somewhat estranged at Liverpool.

The 23-year-old endured a torrid loan spell at Aston Villa last season and is far down Andoni Iraola's attacking pecking order. He wasn't even in the squad that drew with Newcastle on Sunday.

talkSPORT's Ally McCoist has urged the Englishman to have a sit-down with the manager and hash out a plan so he can leave to play football week in week out.

"He has got to get playing - it doesn't look like it will be at Liverpool," he said. "It is a slippery slope and he has to be very careful. I don't imagine wage demands will be that high but he needs to go and play. Whether it is in Europe or with another English club, I don't know, but the Villa spell was a nightmare.

"He needs to sit down with Iraola and find out if he has a chance or if he is in his plans because he needs to play. He is a lovely footballer. Last season was a write-off and he can't afford another one like that."

With Barcola now looking wrapped up, the Reds want another winger to add to their arsenal.

Brighton star Yankuba Minteh has been the subject of two Liverpool bids, the latest reportedly a £70m offer.

However, these have been swiftly rejected and Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has issued a telling message regarding the player, reminding the Reds who is in charge.

"He's a Brighton player," he said. "He needs to commit to this club. He knows that these rumours only come because he benefits from everything here. Everyone knows how the football business works, let's see the ideas from Liverpool…"

If things are ironed out and Barcola does join the Reds as expected, he'll have his dream squad number waiting for him at Anfield.

Currently, the French attacker wears No. 29, but last season he briefly switched to No. 11 at PSG.

If the potential £120m marquee signing wants either of these, they are available. The last player to hold the No. 29 was Arthur Melo - someone Barcola will be hoping he can outshine if he does arrive.

Of course, the No. 11 is also now vacant since Mohamed Salah's emotional departure, so if Barcola wants to lay claim to the number, he'd likely be allowed to do so.

Ismaila Sarr's agent, former Fulham and Celtic attacker Diomansy Kamara, has taken to social media with a hint that his client could soon make a move.

Liverpool's interest in Sarr emerged yesterday with some reports even suggesting a £50m bid had been lodged and swiftly rejected by Crystal Palace.

Kamara posted: "The English market puts several Senegalese players at the forefront of the stage, from Jackson to Sarr concerning us. But behind the transfers, numbers and negotiations, there are first and foremost men, careers and years of work.

"Our approach has never been to create conflicts. It simply consists of ensuring that the African player is considered, respected and valued at the height of what he brings."

Liverpool could also be eyeing up a new midfielder before the deadline and The Independent claims that the club are interested in Bournemouth star Alex Scott.

Of course, Scott worked under Iraola with the Cherries last season and the Reds undoubtedly hold an edge over other suitors because of this - Scott has been the subject of three bids from Chelsea, the latest of which was £68m.

But Bournemouth are standing firm and reportedly insist Scott will not leave for anything less than £80m to £90m. Ouch.

Barcola is not the only winger the Reds are interested in. Liverpool want to sign two wide players this summer and had earmarked Yankuba Minteh.

Although after bids of £60m and £70m were rejected by Brighton, they've headed elsewhere.

The ECHO understands that Ismaila Sarr is now being targeted as Liverpool's recruitment team continues to assess the market. Other reports, however, claim that a £50m bid has been lodged and that Crystal Palace have rejected the offer.
