Everton play themselves into trouble as Pickford's pass to Branthwaite is stolen from the feet of the centre back. Everton just about clear the danger but they are under pressure against 10 men and Branthwaite is forced to block an effort inside the box.

Everton think they have a reprieve when the ball hits the ref, but Ipswich get the drop-ball, to everyone's fury. Barry does really well to get it back and Armstrong carries it all the way to the edge of the box. He has KDH in space on his right but goes alone and skews the effort really far wide.

Jordan Pickford 7

Forced into a smart save to deny Abdul Fatawu inside the area, he’s looked alert but then seemed to lose his bearings when pushing a long-range shot from the same player away when it was going wide.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles 6

Starting to settle into his new surroundings, he’s having to remain focused when defending but going forward, he picked out Barry for an inviting headed chance with a nice cross.

Vitalii Mykolenko 6

A few promising forays upfield in addition to his defensive work, he’s benefitting from having Jack Grealish on his side of the pitch again but picked up a booking for a lunge on Fatawu.

James Tarkowski 7

There were shades of Goodison Park’s final Merseyside Derby when he fired in a volley from outside the area but while this time it was deflected in by Barry, he’s leading by example at the back.

Jarrad Branthwaite 7

Recalled to the England squad, the Rolls-Royce of a defender has been one of Everton’s more polished performers so far.

James Garner 6

He's found himself fighting fires in what at times has been an overly open game and could do with proceedings settling down so he can pick a pass.

Harrison Armstrong 6

Like some of his team-mates, his passing range hasn’t been on point so far compared to some of the hugely encouraging displays we’ve seen from him so far this term but he still delivered the slide-rule delivery for Johnson's big chance.

Brennan Johnson 6

Should have put Everton into an early lead before they went ahead as his smart touch from James Garner’s through-ball worked an inviting opening, but he fired his shot wide and has been quiet since.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall 6

Something of a mixed bag as he played Everton into danger with a wild no-look back pass that was intercepted by Emersonn, but has been a determined figure going forwards.

Jack Grealish 7

Making his first Premier League start since the 1-0 win at his boyhood club Aston Villa on January 18, hopefully the body is now catching up with his terrific football brain as his clever play to slow things down and pick a pass brings a new dimension to Everton’s game.

Thierno Barry 6

Doubled his Premier League goal tally for the season to reach five for the campaign in bizarre circumstances as James Tarkowski’s volley struck his chest and was deflected past Ipswich keeper Christian Walton, he’s put himself about and could have had a second with a headed chance.

To the other left back and Mykolenko sends a good cross deep into the box but Johnson cannot quite get over the ball and his header loops up.

Good work from Johnson wins Everton a throw level with the Ipswich box. The Blues go back, then across, allowing Grealish to size up Outtara. He beats him and his cross is glanced out to KDH, but on his right and he has to take a touch and play an easy pass.

Everton again get free down the left and a deflected cross bounces awkwardly but doesn't fall for either Armstrong or Barry.

Ipswich then break and it's three on three with Fatawu bursting forward. Mykolenko slides in and takes one for the team, earning a yellow.
