IF Tuesday was marked by unpredictable weather and hours of rain delays Day Three delivered its own shocker as Philippine Women's Open top seed Tatjana Maria fell to world No. 174 Tatiana Prozorova, 7-6(2), 6-4, on Wednesday.

Costoulas took out Ma Ye-xin, 6-4, 6-4, earlier in the day in her own Round of 16 match at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

The world No. 42's stunning exit leaves home bet Alex Eala as the highest seed left in the tournament.

Meanwhile, fourth seed Donna Vekic cruised past Mariia Tkacheva, 6-1, 6-2, to book a spot in the quarterfinals of the first WTA tournament to ever be hosted by the country.

Thailand’s Lanlana Tararudee outlasted Polina Kudermetova, 6-4, 6-4, while fifth seed Camila Osorio advanced at the expense of Mai Hontama, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

Osorio now awaits the winner of the Round of 16 matchup between Eala and Japan’s Himeno Sakatsume for a place in the semifinals.
