That said, there are complications to consider. An earlier slot risks bumping into other international franchise leagues around the world, and it would also fall during the holy month of Ramadan, which could throw up its own set of logistical hurdles.

However, hosting matches in April-May through Pakistan's peak summer heat isn't ideal, and the timing would also clash with school exam season. The cricket committee is set to keep talking before settling on a final recommendation.

Beyond the scheduling question, the same meeting also touched on a proposal to add a Super Six stage to the tournament format, though sources indicated that plan hinges on sorting out a financial dispute involving one of the league's commercial partners first.

Officials reportedly raised concerns about unpaid dues owed by a major stakeholder, and when that company's representative addressed the room, PCB officials pushed back firmly, reminding them of their contractual commitments and warning that continued delays wouldn't be tolerated.

Franchise owners backed a hardline approach, and argued that teams themselves face penalties for late payments and that commercial partners should be held to the same standard. Everyone present agreed the matter needed resolving by Monday, following a run of board meetings held over the weekend.
