Fantasy Football Week Two Tight End Rankings: Sam LaPorta, Tyler Warren

0
We have one week of NFL football in the books. Granted, it’s a small sample size. But it’s a far better sample size than zero. We now have at least some of that precious data and that delicious film that we all desperately crave. And that makes it easier to rank players for fantasy football.

Because I’m a man of the people, I’m sharing my half PPR tight end rankings with you for free. I want you to do well in your fantasy league. And I want you to be happy. If you want to be extra happy and do super well, all my rankings for every single position, for every single format, are available to Fantasy Alarm Members here. If you use the promo code COOP25 that gives you get an additional 25% off our membership when you sign up! That makes me super happy as well, so it helps us all.

These rankings below are just for Week 2. If you want my rest of season tight end rankings, in our patented Yin & Yang Tight End format, those are available here at the bottom of this article. As always, I’ll be available for comments or concerns in the Twitter or Reddit threads, so feel free to weigh in there with your own thoughts - or any questions you have for this week!

Week 2 Tight End Rankings: Tier 1

When we update these rankings on Sunday, there might just be one tight end in Tier 1. If we have any concerns about the knee for Bowers, McBride will stand alone. I don’t care if Brock Bowers has 1.5 knees, though - if he is playing, I am starting him.

Week 2 Tight End Rankings: Tier 2

We feel pretty good about these guys, all things considered. LaPorta could come back to earth if they spread the ball around, but he’s at least trustworthy. Travis Kelce, by default, needs to be involved given the injuries/suspensions. And Tyler Warren gets a big boost, partially because of his own performance but also because Josh Downs took a big backseat with a 49% snap share and 51% route participation. Michael Pittman Jr will face Patrick Surtain, so we expect Warren to be called on again.

Week 2 Tight End Rankings: Tier 3

These guys all scare us a little bit. T.J. Hockenson and Tucker Kraft did not set the world on fire last week, but those weren’t ideal matchups. Kyle Pitts is Kyle Pitts. With Andrews, we are betting that the Ravens throw more than 19 times. Hunter Henry is pretty much always just Hunter Henry, which is exactly fine.

Week 2 Tight End Rankings: Tier 4

David Njoku still played more snaps and ran more routes than Harold Fannin last week - we needed a bigger sample size or better usage for Fannin to flip them, but that could happen. Juwan Johnson had nearly perfect usage, but they threw the ball 48 times, and their QB stinks. Dallas Goedert has not practiced, and the rest of this tier has their own target pecking order concerns.

Week 2 Tight End Rankings: Tier 5

These are all guys you can use in a pinch and may have better matchups this week. At least they all played pretty decent snap shares last week - Chig Okonkwo’s 88% snap share was the highest of his career.

Week 2 Tight End Rankings: Tier 6

It’s pretty scary up in this tier. A lot of part-time players. A couple of these guys got one or even zero targets last week. But there’s at least a glimmer of hope for them, whether it was based on a large snap share last week (e.g., Cade Otton, Mason Taylor) or some targets in a role that could increase (Jonnu Smith, Jake Tonges, Noah Fant).
