The Celtic Trust's crystal clear message to Dermot Desmond ahead of 2025 AGM

Dermot Desmond is a man under pressure heading into the Celtic AGM this month.

The yearly meeting of Celtic directors, shareholders and fans is, at times, a heated affair but this year promises fireworks after how the club, and Dermot Desmond, handled Brendan Rodgers leaving the Bhoys.

Desmond released a statement about Rodgers in a move that shocked Celtic supporters and the media as he branded the former Hoops boss as ‘divisive, misleading, and self-serving’.

However, it’s not just the whole Rodgers debacle that has the Celtic fan spotlight firmly on Desmond and the board.

And here, the Celtic Trust aim to show them all exactly how they feel about their leadership of the club at the upcoming AGM this month.

Celtic Trust issue a vote of no confidence in Dermot Desmond

Dermot Desmond never usually attends the Celtic AGM so it is unlikely he will see the voting intentions of the Trust first-hand.

However, in a statement posted on social media, the Trust ensured that Desmond finds out what the plan is to do three weeks before the meeting is held.

The Celtic Trust posted on X, “CELTIC TRUST VOTING INTENTIONS – AGM

“The Celtic Trust can confirm our voting intentions for the 17 resolutions to be considered at Celtic’s AGM on 21st November.”

The Trust is intent on voting against the re-appointment of Dermot Desmond as a director of Celtic in the AGM on Friday 21 November 2025 which will kick-off at 10:30am.

The Trust also confirmed that they will not be looking to seek the reappointment of Michael Nicholson as the CEO, Chris McKay, Peter Lawwell, Brian Wilson, Tom Allison, Brian Rose and Sharon Wilson back onto the board.

Who are the Celtic Trust?

The Celtic Trust is a collective of fans and shareholders whose main objective is to ensure that not one person or group takes sole control of the club.

The Celtic Trust describe themselves on their website as, “For many of us being a Celtic fan is a family and social tradition.

“From parent to child, it was a rite of passage to attend your first match at Parkhead, first cup final or first league flag and many supporters answered the call and bought shares in the club in the 1990s.

“While fans responded wholeheartedly to this, sales to the City and investment groups – such as our current principal shareholder, Dermot Desmond – far outweighed the shares bought by the individual fan.

“Individual Celtic fans still hold a large number of shares in the club but two shareholders, Dermot Desmond and Lindsell Train between them currently hold over fifty percent of the shares.

“The Celtic Trust exists to try to prevent any one person or group ever being able to take control of the club.

“Our ultimate aim is for Celtic Football Club to be owned and run by its own supporters in the best interests of the team on the pitch and in line with the values and activities of its charitable history.

“To that end the Celtic Trust also buys shares in the club collectively in the name of the Trust.”

As the Trust make their AGM voting intentions crystal clear weeks before the AGM meeting is held, will shareholders hold a similar view in order to force change at the very top of Celtic?
