The Chelsea firsts, records and landmarks in 2025/26

Records set

Chelsea began the 2025/26 season only 35 days after our Club World Cup victory in New Jersey, marking our shortest-ever break between seasons – two days fewer than the Covid-affected 2019/20 and 2020/21 campaigns.

Against West Ham in January, the Blues recovered from a 0-2 half-time deficit to win for the first time in Premier League history. Enzo Fernandez's dramatic deciding goal is pictured top.

Our 4-0 victory at Hull City means we have beaten the Tigers in all nine of our FA Cup ties – a new English football record, overtaking Leicester versus Birmingham (8/8).

April’s 7-0 victory against Port Vale set a new club record win in the FA Cup quarter-finals, superseding the 5-0 against Gillingham in February 2000.

Our 3-0 win against Barcelona was our biggest ever against the Spanish side. We are only the third team to defeat them at least five times in the Champions League after Bayern Munich (ten) and PSG (six).

At home to Pafos in the Champions League, Chelsea managed a passing accuracy of 94.5 per cent – the highest by the club in any competition since records began in 2003/04.

At Old Trafford against Man Utd, we became the first team in Premier League history to make as many as three substitutions in the opening 21 minutes of a game.

Toppling Tottenham and extending Everton record

For the third consecutive season Chelsea beat Tottenham Hotspur home and away in the league.

At the time of our 1-0 win at Tottenham in November, the hosts’ xG [Expected Goals] total of 0.1 was the lowest ever recorded in a Premier League game.

Our victory at Tottenham in November marked our 1,500th top-flight win in 3,636 matches.

Chelsea remain unbeaten in our last 31 Premier League home games against Everton (18 wins, 13 draws). It’s our longest run without defeat against an opponent at Stamford Bridge in our top-flight history exceeding our previous record 27 set against Tottenham between 1990 and 2016.

Chelsea extended our unbeaten record against Crystal Palace to 17 Premier League matches (14 wins, three draws), our longest current run against any of the 19 other sides involved in the 2025/26 campaign.

And finally…

Twenty different Chelsea players scored for the Blues across all competitions this season. Our club record is 21, originally set in 2021/22 and equalled in 2024/25.

The Blues are unbeaten in our last ten matches kicking off at 12.30pm on a Saturday, winning eight of them.

Chelsea’s proud historic record of just 15 goals conceded over a Premier League season (2004/05) remains intact.

Chelsea completed the season by naming a starting XI without a single player aged 30 or older for the 123rd consecutive game in all competitions; the second longest run by a Premier League team is 47 by Aston Villa between August 1997 and May 1998. We again had the youngest average starting XI in the Premier League this season (24y 194d).
