TKR vs JT Match Prediction & Analysis

Trinbago Knight Riders will go head-to-head against Jamaica Kingsmen for the second time this season. After a winning start to their title defence, the Knight Riders have lost 3 games in a row.

However, the veteran mystery spinner, Sunil Narine, who’s back in the opener’s role, the one had played for many years, delivered a winning knock along with a miserly spell in the last outing to end TKR’s losing streak.

Jamaica Kingsmen have won 3 of their 7 matches so far and rank fourth in the points table. Their bowling has been outstanding. Since their win over TKR, the Kingsmen have won 3 of their 4 games, and two of these wins came while batting first.

They bowled out SNP for 130 runs while defending 181 at home, and restricted them to 171 for 6 while defending 182 in the return match. Jamaica Kingsmen have lost the toss and were put to bowl first in each of the last 3 matches.

TEAMS PREVIEW

Trinbago Knight Riders Preview

Nicholas Pooran will be a happy skipper after their recent win over Barbados Tridents. After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Sunil Narine and Keiron Pollard picked up two wickets each while Usman Tariq delivered a very economical spell as the opposition finished with 127 for 9.

As the Knight Riders come to the Brian Lara Stadium, where bowlers have enjoyed a great deal of help, the recent win will boost their confidence. The spin trio of Sunil Narine, Akeal Hosein, and Usman Tariq will play a decisive role in this game.

They also have Kieron Pollard in the pace attack with plenty of experience and looks in good touch. He hasn’t been wicketless once in the last three games. In the batting order, the experienced Colin Munro and Sunil Narine will be opening the innings for the team.

In the middle order, Nicholas Pooran and Kieron Pollard are the ones to watch. While Pooran seemed to have been struggling in the last couple of games, Pollard has been exceptional. TKR also have Alex Hales in the mix, who can help finish things on a high.

Interesting Stats

The opening duo of Munro-Narine has scored 95 and 70 for the first wicket in the last two matches

Pollard scored 65 off 26 against Saint Lucia Kings at number 6 in a losing cause

Trinbago Knight Riders Predicted Playing XI:

Colin Munro, Alex Hales, Sunil Narine, Nicholas Pooran (c) (wk), Matthew Tromp, Kieron Pollard, Jyd Goolie, Dominic Drakes, Akeal Hosein, Abdul Raheem Toppin, Usman Tariq

Jamaica Kingsmen Preview

Jamaica Kingsmen will be keen to bowl first if they win the toss. While they have done well in their last few games, winning two of the three matches while batting first, they will be more comfortable giving their bowlers a go in the first innings.

The Kingsmen successfully defended an 180-run total twice in the last 3 matches. This certainly invokes confidence in the bowlers; it has put a lot of pressure on the batting lineup to deliver winning totals every single time.

And considering this is a wicket where bowlers can find some help, Kingsmen, who suffered a top-order collapse in their last two consecutive outings, batting first in this match should be out of the question.

Kirk McKenzie and Keacy Carty are the key players in the top order who must find their rhythm and get back to scoring impactful runs to help Kingsmen set the stage for a big total.

The middle order has some big names like Saim Ayub, Usman Khan, and skipper Rovman Powell coming in at 5, who can play the finisher’s role for the side. They also have Andre Russell in the squad, who didn’t make it to the XI in the last outing.

All-rounders like Hassan Khan, Keemo Paul, and Russell further strengthen the lower order. Hunain Shah, Keemo Paul, and Saim Ayub are the key wicket-takers to watch out for. Russell is a reliable wicket-taker and should be back in the XI for this match.

Interesting Stats

Jamaica Kingsmen lost 3 and 4 wickets in the powerplay of their last two games, respectively.

Keemo Paul’s 65 off 36 balls at number 6 helped Kingsmen score a winning first-innings total in their first encounter against SNP

Hunain Shah has picked up 7 wickets in his last 3 outings for the Kingsmen

Jamaica Kingsmen Predicted Playing XI:

Maaz Sadaqat, Kirk McKenzie, Saim Ayub, Keacy Carty, Usman Khan (wk), Rovman Powell (c), Keemo Paul, Odean Smith, Vitel Lawes, Jediah Blades, Hunain Shah

Jamaica Kingsmen Actual Playing XI:

Keacy Carty, Maaz Sadaqat, Saim Ayub, Keemo Paul, Odean Smith, Kirk McKenzie, Usman Khan, Jediah Blades, Vitel Lawes , Hunain Shah, Rovman Powell

PITCH AND WEATHER CONDITIONS

Weather Conditions

The skies will be clear in the evening, though scattered thunderstorms are predicted earlier in the day in Tarouba. We don’t expect any weather interruptions during this match, while the high humidity could help the bowlers early in the innings, and the dew coming in later in the night will not only make gripping the ball difficult but also allow for a consistent bounce and carry.

TKR vs JT Pitch Report

Historically, the pitch has favoured the bowlers and has been on the slower side. However, in the last season, we saw batters find much more help than they had previously on this surface. The average first innings score in the 5 games played here in CPL last year is 155 runs. However, TKR chased down a 179-run target quite comfortably against Barbados on this ground last season. Anything under 170 will not be safe on this wicket, and the team batting first should aim for 180+ runs to be in a winning position.
