Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini certainly embraced ‘La dolce vita’ (the sweet life) at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.The Italian tennis team wrote history one year ago today, claiming the nation’s first Olympic gold medal in the sport, no less than on the cherished clay courts of Stade Roland-Garros.They made sure to take advantage of their time in the French capital, where 38-year-old Errani had lifted the Roland-Garros doubles title in 2012, while Paolini had just reached the singles final two months prior.“After winning against France [Caroline Garcia and Diane Parry], we went back to the hotel on the bus, singing with the doors open,” Errani told Olympics.com at Wimbledon 2025 of her Parisian memories.“And after winning the semi-final, we went on a bike around Paris, this was really funny. We were coming back from dinner to the hotel, so it was an unbelievable night exploring Paris a little bit.”“I just bought a hoodie,” Paolini said to Olympics.com - “me too!” Errani added in laughter, before Paolini continued, “We actually bought the same one after the semi-final because we were sure that we have the medal, so we were like, 'Come on, we should buy something'.”Italian tennis is in its golden age, exemplified by their doubles team history makers, bringing home matching grey hoodies and gold medals.
