CPL 2026 set for many firsts

The Caribbean Premier League of 2026 is set for a few new additions - starting with a seventh team in the competition for the first time. Jamaica Kingsmen will debut in this year's tournament, with the league returning to Jamaica for the first time in six years. The owners of the erstwhile Jamaica Tallawahs had moved to Antigua, with the Tallawahs ceasing to exist after the 2023 season. CPL 2026 will involve 39 fixtures, taking place from August 7 to September 20.

Also for the first time, the scenic Arnos Vale Stadium in St. Vincent & the Grenadines will host CPL matches. They will start off with the opener between newcomers Jamaica Kingsmen and Antigua & Barbuda Falcons on August 7. They will also host the next two matches. Also for the first time in the history of this competition, Barbados will host the CPL final.

"With an expanded tournament in 2026, we are delighted to be bringing CPL cricket to St Vincent & the Grenadines for the first time," Pete Russell, CEO of the Caribbean Premier League, said: "We are equally excited about hosting finals week in Barbados, where we have ambitious plans to deliver the biggest and most memorable finale in the tournament's 14-year history. Each year, our goal is to raise the bar, and I am more confident than ever that CPL 2026 will be our best season yet."

The league stage of the tournament is set to go on till September 13 followed by the Eliminator clash on September 16, Qualifier 1 on September 17, Qualifier 2 on September 18 and the final on September 20.
